End-face sliding seal with simple U-shaped rubber. The seal element is made of special rubber that can be flexibly deformed to absorb shaft eccentricity and runout. This shaft seal unit is optimum for low-speed rotating equipment with relatively large shaft eccentricity and runout. It is also applicable to powder-contained gas.
